The Challenge
This large-scale worker accommodation village in Abu Dhabi housed approximately 15,000 residents with virtually no structured network in place. The client needed a solution deployable quickly, capable of supporting massive concurrent usage, and able to introduce a cost-recovery model through monetised internet access.
What We Delivered
NETCUE implemented a comprehensive staff accommodation Wi-Fi infrastructure built around the EdgeCue captive portal gateway platform with a prepaid voucher engine, allowing residents to purchase internet access in daily, weekly, or monthly packages. A FlowCue multi-WAN load balancer aggregated multiple ISP feeds, providing the bandwidth headroom needed for 15,000 simultaneous connections while maintaining resilience against any single link failure. QoS rules were applied at the gateway level to prevent bandwidth monopolisation and ensure fair distribution across all devices.
The Outcome
The worker village went from zero structured connectivity to a fully monetised, high-throughput network capable of serving 15,000 concurrent devices — with the operator recovering infrastructure costs through voucher revenue within the first six months.
