The Challenge
Al Jabar Camp in Abu Dhabi accommodates approximately 7,000 workers across a sprawling residential site. Management required a network solution giving them full control over internet access, introducing a revenue-generating voucher model, and significantly reducing the burden of day-to-day connectivity complaints.
What We Delivered
NETCUE deployed a dual EdgeCue EC-5000 captive portal gateway setup to ensure redundancy and load distribution across the camp's network zones. The EdgeCue voucher system formed the backbone of the monetisation strategy — residents could purchase prepaid access codes from designated kiosks, with each voucher tied to strict bandwidth and session duration policies. Secure access control was enforced at the gateway level, preventing unauthorised use and ensuring only paying users could connect.
The Outcome
Al Jabar Camp replaced unmanaged open internet access with a secure, revenue-generating voucher network — reducing management overhead dramatically and introducing a net-positive cost model for the property operator.
