IPv6 to Binary Converter

Convert IPv6 addresses to their 128-bit binary representation.

Binary Representation:

How IPv6 to Binary Conversion Works

IPv6 addresses are 128-bit addresses. Each hextet (4 hexadecimal digits) represents 16 bits:

  • Each hexadecimal digit = 4 bits
  • Each hextet (4 hex digits) = 16 bits
  • 8 hextets × 16 bits = 128 bits total

Example Conversion

IPv6: 2001:db8::1

Expanded: 2001:0db8:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0001

Binary: 0010000000000001:0000110110111000:0000000000000000:0000000000000000:0000000000000000:0000000000000000:0000000000000000:0000000000000001

Binary Format

The binary representation shows all 128 bits, grouped by hextets for readability. Each group of 4 binary digits corresponds to one hexadecimal digit.
